Surgeons recover 2kg chunk from teen's stomach

KOLKATA: Surgeons at Bardhaman Medical College recently operated upon a 19-year-old youth to recuperate a 2kg chunk of concrete from his stomach.

Bimal Pal, a resident of Babudaha of Pakur at Jharkhand, attempted to finish his life after being rebuked by way of his father Dhiren Pal on June 23.

Dhiren Pal is a renowned potter by way of profession while Bimal assists him in the process of idol making. On Saturday, Bimal being inattentive in his task was once scolded by way of his dad, following which he decided to dedicate suicide.

But how? He ate up cement, Plaster of Paris and a fragment of rags. These formed a lump of concrete inside of his abdomen inflicting immense pain and discomfort.


Bimal was once rushed first to the local Marwari Hospital after which to Rampurhat Block Hospital from the place he was once in any case taken to the Bardhaman Medical College Hospital.


A group of 10 surgeons at Bardhaman Medical College Hospital operated at the youth on Thursday and taken out the concrete lump from his stomach. He is at the moment convalescing.


The Superintendant of Bardhaman Medical College Hospital Dr. Utpal Dawn mentioned, "Our medical team has once again proved their skills. We did not refer the patient elsewhere, but admitted him promptly. He was made to undergo various tests and kept under observation. He is steadily recovering after the surgery."


Dr Snehangshu Paan, who led the surgical treatment group, mentioned, "We consider every surgery important. But this one was different. In West Bengal, there is a tendency to visit Kolkata or even South India for critical surgery. Actually, we at the district hospitals are no less skillful, and we have proved our mettle."
