IIT Kanpur develops tech to make artificial rain: Minister

BAREILLY: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has advanced indigenous generation to make artificial rain, stated Uttar Pradesh irrigation minister Dharmpal Singh on Wednesday night time.


During his temporary keep at the irrigation department's visitor house here on his strategy to Agra from Lucknow, Singh stated, "We had planned to an artificial rain in Bundelkhand's Mahoba district in May and a contract with China was sealed, but that couldn't be materialised. Now, our engineers at IIT Kanpur have developed the technology of producing artificial rain, which is much cheaper in comparison to China. Artificial rain can be produced in case a district faces drought-like situation."


Divulging main points of the failed contract with China, which "couldn't materialise owing to some strategic reasons", the minister stated, "The deal with China was sealed for making artificial rain covering an area of 1,000 square kilometres for Rs 11 crore, but China withdrew. The technology developed by IIT Kanpur, however, will cost only Rs 5.5 crore to cover 1,000 square kilometres with artificial rains."


Singh stated artificial rain would now not harm the ecology slightly it might help strengthen state of affairs drought state of affairs.
