Iran arrests 'Sultan of Coins' suspected of hoarding gold

TEHRAN: Iranian state TV says police have arrested a man who used to be hoarding two lots of gold cash with a purpose to manipulate the marketplace.

The file quotes Tehran police leader Gen. Hossein Rahimi as pronouncing the 58-year-old suspect had accomplices who helped him collect the cash over the last 10 months.

He didn't identify the suspect, who state media referred to as the "Sultan of Coins." Two lots will be the similar of around 250,000 cash.

Iranians have stocked up on gold cash and other secure haven investments as the native foreign money has plummeted in contemporary months. The Iranian rial has plunged to 90,000 to the buck - double the federal government rate of 42,000.
