Krishna Reddy is K'taka assembly dy speaker

BENGALURU: JD(S)' M Krishna Reddy used to be on Friday elected deputy speaker of the Karnataka legislative assembly.

As the House meet, Speaker Ramesh Kumar initiated the method to elect the deputy speaker, following which senior JD(S) member KM Shivalinge Gowda proposed Reddy's title while his colleague Okay Gopalaiah seconded it.

The proposal to elect Reddy used to be followed by a voice vote.

BJP had now not fielded any candidate.


Congratulating Reddy, Kumaraswamy referred to the prime standards set by Kumar for the House and expressed hope that the deputy speaker would also observe suit.


Noting that both speaker and deputy speaker hail from the erstwhile undivided Kolar district, Yeddyurappa stated "I had thought that Reddy would become minister, I wish for his best and better opportunities in the days to come."


The Speaker, while congratulating Reddy, reminded him in regards to the responsibilities of the place of job and stated "the whole House has shown trust in him, as he has been elected unopposed."


Thanking members for electing him, Reddy promised to work in way that would uphold the glory of the deputy speaker's place of job.
