BHUBANESWAR: Pulling of Lord Jagannath’s chariot Nandighosa that stopped in the center on Saturday, resumed amid heavy downpour at Grand Road in Puri on Sunday.
Braving the intermittent rain, devotees and policemen pulled the chariot to Gundicha temple from Balagandi Chhak on Sunday morning. The deities will likely be taken into the sanctum sanctorum of the temple on Monday.
“I believe lucky and blessed that I were given a possibility to pull the chariot of Lord Jagannath with out whom will not anything can happen in this world. He has his unique method of creating his presence felt and to succeed in his devotees,” said Satyabrata Biswal, a devotee from Dhenkanal.
The pulling of the chariot started at around nine.15 am after the Daitapati servitors performed more than a few rituals like Mangala Aarti and Abakasha of the Lord. The chariots of Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra had reached Gundicha temple on Saturday.
The Medical Square on Grand Road where the chariots were being pulled witnessed waterlogging for a few hours. The Puri Municipality claimed to have taken a number of measures to be sure that there will likely be no waterlogging throughout Rath Yatra.
