Thane: 66% of last year's rainfall so far

THANE: Maharashtra's Thane district has gained 11,446.54mm of rainfall this monsoon which is 66 according to cent of the rainfall it gained during the entire monsoon season ultimate yr, a senior district reliable stated on Sunday.

Thane has gained 11,446.54mm rainfall this season so far as towards eight,613.50mm in the same duration ultimate yr, district data officer Aniruddha Ashtaputre stated on Sunday.

The district had gained 17,150.10mm of rainfall in the entire monsoon season ultimate yr, the reliable stated.

Thane had already gained over 66 according to cent of the entire rainfall it got during ultimate yr's monsoon, he stated.

He stated that water levels of dams within the district had been emerging and some of their gates would need to be opened quickly.

The gate of Modak Sagar Dam was once opened at round 3pm today and its storage level was once reaching the overflow mark, Ashtaputre stated.


The storage level of Bhatsa Dam stood at 125.65 million cubic metres (mcum), or 58.77 according to cent of its storage capacity, and its gates would be opened when the water capacity reached 134 mcum or 78 according to cent of the storage capacity, he knowledgeable.


"The gates will be opened when it reaches 78 per cent. Villages in the vicinity will be informed in advance and tehsildars will receive official communication before the water is released," he stated.


Giving details about other dams within the district, he stated that level of water in Barvi Dam stood at 64.72 metres and its overflow mark was once 68.60m. It lately has 164.99 mcum of water which was once 70.79 according to cent of the dam's storage capacity.


The Pise Dam also gained heavy rainfall, he stated.
