Traders in Trichy’s Gandhi Market warn of strike

TRICHY: Facing difficulties in transferring vegetables to Gandhi Market after the Trichy district administration imposed a ban on heavy automobiles entering the market, buyers on Friday threatened to move on an indefinite stir.
After the integrated vegetable and end result market in Kallikudi was thrown open via the district administration on June 30, town police had been preventing the entry of heavy automobiles into the Gandhi Market.

Following the ban, wholesale as well as retail buyers claimed that their business had hit all-time low.

Traders determined to stay Gandhi Market as a night market via operating heavy automobiles throughout the century old facility best during evening hours.


“We would make sure that wholesale business in Gandhi Market will probably be performed between 10pm and 6am. Likewise, retail gross sales of vegetables can be performed between 6am and 10pm. By doing so, site visitors congestion can also be averted,” Ve Govindarajalu, state normal secretary of Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangangalin Peramaippu, a federation of buyers, said.


The buyers on Friday handed 8 resolutions reiterating that they will to not transfer out of Gandhi Market.


“If our calls for aren't met and if restrictions imposed continue to impact the wholesale business, we will release an indefinite strike. The city would no longer witness gross sales of any vegetables,” Govindarajalu added.
