PM Modi attends meeting of Somnath Trust

GANDHINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday attended a meeting of the Shree Somnath Trust at the Raj Bhavan right here along side BJP veteran L Ok Advani and birthday party leader Amit Shah.

Modi, Shah and Advani are a few of the seven trustees of the agree with that manages affairs of the famous Somnath temple of Lord Shiva, located in Gir-Somnath district of Gujarat.

"The meeting lasted for about an hour wherein former Gujarat chief minister Keshubhai Patel was renominated as the chairman of the trust for the term of another year," stated P Ok Laheri, one of the trustees.

Various construction works happening at the temple web page, along side the income and expenditure accounts have been discussed at the meeting, Laheri stated.

J D Parmar, one of the seven trustees, may no longer attend the meeting because of private causes, he stated.

The seven trustees are: Modi, Shah, Advani, Patel, Laheri, Parmar and Harshvardhan Neotia, a businessman.

The temple, situated in Prabhas Patan near Veraval in Saurashtra at the western coast, is assumed to be the primary a few of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines of Lord Shiva.

It attracts hundreds of devotees each day.


After attending the meeting, Modi visited his nonagenarian mom Hira Ben in Raysan village near Gandhinagar.


He spent about 15 minutes with Hira Ben who lives with Modi's younger brother Pankaj Modi within the village that falls between Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad.


The PM then left for the Ahmedabad airport to fly back to Delhi, stated neighbours of Pankaj Modi.


Modi visits his mom each time he comes to Gandhinagar.
