NEW DELHI: BJP on Monday said Congress chief Rahul Gandhi’s attack on the Rafale deal used to be a diversionary tactic due to the heat generated via a case that puzzled his and Sonia Gandhi’s possession of ‘Young India’ and the acquisition of Rs 5,000 crore of assets.
Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the assets had been bought with an funding of a trifling Rs 50 lakh and with the income tax department rejecting the versions of Sonia and Rahul, the Rafale controversy used to be “orchestrated” to counter the power building up. Prasad emphasised that the court had rejected the pleas of Sonia and Rahul to quash the circumstances against them and that each had been out on bail.
On Rahul challenging Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a debate on Rafale, Prasad said, “Rahul Gandhi is not worthy to have a debate with the PM.” He reiterated that the federal government had carried out the Rafale take care of entire transparency.
