SC concerned over people losing lives for living in unsafe, unauthorised buildings

NEW DELHI: Taking a serious view of incidents in Delhi NCR and Mumbai by which many people had been killed for living in unsafe and unauthorised structures that have been constructed without governments approval, the Supreme Court on Friday requested the Centre to believe framing a policy to sternly take care of illegal buildings around the nation.

Referring to the new incident in Mumbai which 4 people, including an elderly lady, died and 16 had been injured in a hearth that broke out at a high-rise rental construction in central Mumbai, a bench of Justices Madan B Lokur and Deepak Gupta stated that individuals had been allowed to reside in the construction via builders even the career certificate was once not given via the authority. It also identified that in Ghaziabad and Greater Noida several individuals misplaced their lives after unauthorised structures collapsed.

“It is a very sad situation. Three are thousands of such illegal construction around the nation which don't seem to be protected and people’s lives is in danger. We are monitoring the illegal building in Delhi however what about the remainder of the country. There was once also fireplace in Kamla Mills (in December by which 14 people had been killed).
