Sushil Kumar bows out of Asian Games after just one bout

JAKARTA: Two-time Olympic medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar's Asian Games campaign resulted in disappointment as he suffered a shocking loss within the first qualification spherical bout towards Bahrain's Adam Batirov within the men's 74 kg category on Sunday.


The 35-year-old celebrated Indian wrestler, who won a bronze and silver respectively within the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, lost Three-5 to Batirov within the qualification spherical.


Sushil's chance of enjoying within the repechage spherical went up in smoke after Batirov lost his quarter-finals bout. If Batirov had made the overall, the Indian would have had a possibility to win bronze via repechage.


Against Batirov, Sushil led 2-1 after the primary length with a take down but the Bahraini made a robust comeback to silence the Indian fans.


The Indian stalwart created two alternatives to attain in the second one length but may no longer convert while Batirov didn't leave out his chances. The Bahrain wrestler led Three-2 with a take down after which pushed the Indian out for a win.
