WASHINGTON: The United States Congress has passed the $716 billion defence spending bill which, amongst its many provisions, seeks to enhance and make stronger the country's defence partnership with India.

The bill asks the Trump Administration to discover further steps to put in force the "major defence partner" designation to better facilitate army interoperability, data sharing and appropriate era transfers; and pursue strategic projects to assist expand India's defence capabilities, including maritime safety capabilities.
As passed by the 2 chamber of the Congress, the NDAA-2019 asks the United States Government to reinforce cooperation on and coordination of humanitarian and crisis aid responses; conduct further joint exercises with India in the Persian Gulf, the Indian Ocean area, and the Western Pacific; and further cooperative efforts to advertise safety and stability.

Therefore, NDAA-2019 directs that, not later than 120 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense provide to the congressional protection committees a briefing at the plans to make stronger safety cooperation among the United States, Japan, Australia, India, and different nations, including thru army activities and exercises, capacity development efforts amongst different nations in the Indo-Pacific area, and joint regional infrastructure projects, it said.
