NEW DELHI: The 2019 basic elections might still be some months away but the campaign to make Narendra Modi the high minister once more has very a lot started on Modi’s private cell utility, NAMO, on his 68th birthday.


Merchandise like t-shirts, caps, note-books and pens with slogans like ‘NAMO Again’, ‘NAMO NAM’ and ‘India MODIfied’ have been introduced for online sale at the Narendra Modi App on Monday, in perhaps the first case of a celebration officially selling its merchandise online. Official app of PM Modi is a well-liked one with over five million downloads.


The online platform hosted on Modi’s App is called ‘FlyKart’, which is a striking resemblance to the leading e-commerce platform, Flipkart. ‘Flykart’ is described as a logo of a Delhi-based company, Firki Wholesale Private Ltd (FWPL). The App mentions that ‘FlyKart’ and different sellers at the platform have license to manufacture those products using the intellectual assets rights owned by way of the BJP.


BJP was getting huge call for from state units for such merchandise and with the campaign coming near, this was noticed as a proper time to release a central platform, resources said. “The concept is to have a buyer experience similar to leading e-commerce corporations in terms of ingenious, logo high quality, logistics and competitive pricing,” a senior BJP functionary told ET.


The NAMO App says “proceeds of the sale will pass to the Clean Ganga Fund”.
