MUMBAI: Continuing its recovery, the rupee Friday strengthened 38 paise to 73.74 towards the United States dollar in early industry in the forex market after world crude costs eased.
Besides, dollar-selling by way of exporters and banks, the greenback's weak spot towards some currencies in another country, helped the recovery in the home forex.
Brent crude fell three according to cent to industry at 80.37 a barrel in the world market.
Forex dealers said a higher opening in the equity market also supported the rupee's sentiment.
The native unit, after hitting a report low of 74.50 Thursday, recovered nine paise to end at 74.12 towards the dollar.
Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark Sensex rebounded 377.12 points, or 1.11 according to cent, to 34,378.27 in opening industry.
