BENGALURU: Tony Tom, 36, who was caught via immigration officials at Kempegowda International Airport in an alleged human trafficking case, was remanded in judicial custody on Thursday. All the 32 girls nursing graduates, being taken to Armenia before they have been rescued, have been sent back to their houses.

Tom was nabbed within the early hours of Tuesday after immigration officials suspected foul play throughout visa and passport verification of the 32 girls. Tom claimed he was taking the scholars to Armenia for a short-term German language direction. Visas and passports of the women have been found to be genuine and no action was taken in opposition to them. “We let them move after recording their statements. Parents of several girls arrived at the airport on listening to concerning the suspected human trafficking case and took them house,” a police officer stated.


The scholars had the e-visa of Armenia, where they have been meant to be informed German. “We have asked Armenian authorities whether or not University of Traditional Medicine of Armenia (UTMA) provides a direction in German language. We have sought clarification on whether or not e-visa is sufficient to attend the two-month direction,” an officer stated.


Cops have written to the training department to understand the procedures needed to run an training consultancy firm. “We predict a answer from Armenia in a couple of days. Further action will likely be taken after we get the answer,” stated Kala Krishnaswamy, deputy commissioner of police (northeast division).
