Rajkot: The Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and different social organizations plans to hold a rally on December 7 challenging conversion of lease to freehold land of Gandhidham and Addipur township by means of Deendayal Port Trust (DPT) officially referred to as Kandla Port Turst. The demand has been pending since over 5 decades.
The board assembly of DPT is scheduled for December 7 in Gandhidham. The UPA cupboard had in 2014 given approval to transform the residential leasehold land to freehold for nearly 1,900 acre land out of overall 5,000 acre land with the DPT. This land was once given by means of then Kutch’s rulers to the refugees at the time of partition in India in 1947.
The 2,800 acre land was once thereafter given to Sindhi Resettlement Corporation and after formation of Kandla Port trust the land was once handed over to port for administration. There are 31,000 lease holders of the land with about 80% residential units.
The President of GCCI Anil Jain said, “The proposal to transform the lease land to freehold was once passed by means of UPA government, however implementation of the decision is still pending. Those lease holders whose land got loose have not got name clearance but.”
He additional alleged, “The DPT had arbitrarily greater switch fees from Rs 750 according to plot prior to few years to Rs 20 lakh. In the similar line the charges for loan permission was once additionally greater manifolds.”
