Injured criminal escapes from hospital; three cops suspended, booked for laxity

KANPUR: Arif, a sought after criminal who was injured in an encounter on Tuesday and present process treatment at Kanshiram Trauma Centre in Ramadevi space of Chakeri below police watch, escaped from the health facility on Wednesday morning.

Taking his escape seriously, police government have suspended and booked 3 police personnel, including an SI, for negligence and dereliction of responsibility. An extensive seek has been introduced and particular groups were formed to nab the criminal.

Inspector Babupurwa Ajay Narain Singh said, “Criminal Arif alias Mattu of Rail Bazar space, who was fascinated with a handbag loot incident on Sunday, was nabbed after a police encounter close to H-Block space of Kidwainagar on late Tuesday evening. His aide Rahul Singh of Shivli space of Kanpur Dehat had controlled to flee.”


Arif had sustained bullet accidents in his leg in the encounter and was admitted to the trauma centre. “He escaped in the course of the broken window of the bathroom of the health facility on Wednesday morning,” the Inspector added.


“SI Dhirendra Singh, constables Prabhanshu Maheria and Rishabh, below whose watch the criminal was stored, were positioned below suspension,” SSP Anant Deo said.


“The 3 have also been booked below sections 223 (Escape from confinement or custody negligently suffered by public servant) and 224 (Resistance or obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension) of Indian Penal Code,” he added.


Nearly 16 criminal cases are pending against Arif and police said and he was on their maximum sought after checklist.
