Mysuru: Charging Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being interested simplest in selling industrialists, farmer chief Vasur Kumar said, “When will the ‘Acche Din (good days)’ come for farmers? It is more than four years since Modi became the PM but he has no longer executed anything for the farmers. He has refused to waive off loans, which is the desire of the hour.”
Members of the farmers’ organisations, along side farmers who descended at the city from all corners of the district, staged a protest in entrance of the deputy commissioner’s place of work on Thursday tough the rapid implementation of the MS Swaminathan Commission report. “During the marketing campaign for the 2014 Parliamentary elections, Modi assured the farming community of starting up programmes for their welfare. But he appears to be least bothered about our welfare. They do not think carefully before waiving off loans of industrialists, but are not as thinking about waiving off our debts. This is ‘Karab Din’ for farmers. The central government has also did not create jobs for youngsters. So, to place drive at the government, we will be able to grasp a protest at Ramlila Ground in New Delhi on Friday,” said Kumar.
He also expressed sadness with the Centre’s apathy in opposition to improving the health of public sector units reminiscent of Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML). “These corporations must be supplied with the latest machinery, as an alternative of which these corporations are being passed over to private players. Farmers is not going to stay silent if the government tries to privatise such corporations,” Kumar added.
The protesters submitted a memorandum list their calls for to the deputy commissioner, urging the central government to take corrective measures to redress farmers’ grievances.
