Suspicion of witchcraft led to 50-year-old woman’s beheading

VADODARA: Investigation into the beheading of a 50-year-old tribal lady in Chhota Udepur has revealed that accused Chhagan Rathwa had suspected her of being a witch.

Police also arrested Chhagan’s friend Mukesh Rathwa, who used to be involved in the murder of the lady Reshli Rathwa.

During interrogation, Chhagan informed police that he killed Reshli after consulting a witch doctor. Police said that Chhagan’s mother had died round a fortnight ago at the same time as she did not have any sickness. “His mother had returned home after taking farm animals out for grazing and died inside of few hours,” said a police reputable. Chhagan informed police that he had suspicion that his mother died of witchcraft and due to this fact he consulted the witch doctor.


According to police assets, the witchdoctor informed Chhagan that a lady who met his mother when she took her farm animals out for grazing had performed some black magic. Reshli and Chhagan’s mother used to steadily meet whilst taking their farm animals out for grazing. The accused assumed that Reshli had met his mother on the day of her loss of life as well and performed witchcraft.


Chhagan then determined to avenge his mother’s loss of life by killing Reshli. He discussed his plan with Mukesh and any other friend Kamlesh, either one of whom determined to lend a hand him. Chhagan chopped off the lady’s head and even injured her arms and feet. They had later buried her head by digging a pit in the river.


The accused had entered the home through air flow window in Rathwa’s room. He had got rid of the iron bars that have been are compatible over air flow window.
