Mysuru: The 11th version of Tour of Nilgiris (TfN), the once a year flagship match of RideACycle Foundation (RACF), will see cyclists pedal 950km throughout the Nilgiris mountain vary overlaying Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu over 8 days.
The 110 cyclists come with 29 riders from 13 countries and 17 women. Charity riders from Kenneth Anderson Nature Society, Sita Bhateja Speciality Hospital, Iksha Foundation and Vidyodaya School and different organisations will pedal for social reasons.
After being flagged off in Mysuru on December 9, the cyclists will trip via Hassan, Kushalanagar, Sultan Bathery (Kerala), Udhagamandalam (Ooty in Tamil Nadu) and Kalpetta (Kerala) earlier than returning to Mysuru.
RACF co-founder Deepak Majipatil mentioned that the eight-day mountainous tour will take the cyclists via terrains, plains, coffee and tea plantations and 3 wildlife sanctuaries.
He added that superstar cyclists, together with Kiran Kumar Raju, present India MTB champion, and Naveen John, present India street champion, will vie for honours. Alexi Grewal, an Indian-American who has gained an Olympic gold in street cycling in 1984, will volunteer as a mentor for cyclists.
