PATNA: Three hands smugglers were arrested with one AK-47 attack rifle and 4 magazines close to Purabsarai railway station below the Kotwali police station space in Munger on Wednesday. The AK-47 used to be smuggled from the Central Ordnance Depot (COD) at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.
Munger SP Gaurav Mangla stated the smugglers were identified as Tausif Imam alias Rizwi, Mohammad Irshad Ahmed and Satyam Kumar.
"Police also recovered one musket, four live cartridges, one country-made pistol, three cellphones and Rs50,000 from their possession," he stated.
"While Imam and Ahmed are natives of Azad Colony under the Kotwali police station area in Munger, Kumar belongs to Sabdalpur under the Sahebpur Kamal police station area in Begusarai district," Mangla added.
Altogether 22 AK-47s smuggled from Jabalpur have up to now been seized in Munger since August 29 this 12 months.
