VADODARA: Passengers of a DEMU teach had a narrow escape on Tuesday evening when the loco pilot of the Khambhat-bound teach sighted an iron structure on the tracks.
A miscreant had placed an iron structure which gave the look of an iron grill on the tracks between Pandori and Nar Town railway stations to derail the teach. The loco pilot of Anand-Khmabhat DEMU Naginbhai sighted the structure on the railway tracks within the nick of time and applied emergency breaks.
Railway officials stated that the iron structure was once relatively heavy because of which the loco pilot had to take help of passengers to move it. Later the loco pilot introduced the incident to the awareness of senior railway officials. He even mentioned that he had to take help of passengers.
Railway officials stated that Naginbhai shall be awarded for his bravery act as he stored lives of so many passengers.
GRP staff are enquiring into the case.
