PATNA: The state delivery department is ready to release a drive towards illegal dealers promoting in the community assembled e-rickshaws from Monday.
According to move secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, flying squads, comprising district delivery officers (DTO), motor automobile inspectors (MVI) and enforcement sub-inspectors (ESI), will determine retail outlets promoting unauthorized e-rickshaws in their respective districts.
“Many e-rickshaws are plying on town roads with out valid registration. If the flying squads find a sub-standard e-rickshaw, they will be seized instantly below the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act, 1988,” Agarwal said on Saturday, including dealers, promoting e-rickshaws with out the approval of testing businesses, would be booked.
Transport department sources claimed in the community assembled e-rickshaws weren't fit to ply on roads. “Most e-rickshaw drivers don’t also have licence which is mandatory. They purchase sub-standard vehicles at affordable rates,” Agarwal said and added the campaign would additionally keep an eye on visitors motion.
E-rickshaw driver Saroj Singh said his automobile was better than mini town buses and autorickshaws which emitted black smoke. “If the dep. seizes our e-rickshaws, we can be unemployed. I purchased this automobile after promoting two rickshaws,” he instructed this reporter.
