Election commission allows grants for cow shelters

JAIPUR: The state govt has been allowed by means of the election commission for grants as much as Rs one lakh for cow shelters in Rajasthan.

A an identical grant was once being given to cow shelters between 2016 - 2018 but was once limited to the shelters that had cows between 150-200 in number. However this year, grant shall be given to cow shelters having 100-200 cows with the intention to rope in additional shelters. But with the elections only some days away, it was once considered as a step for wooing voters.

“Government is already giving Rs 16 to Rs 32 in keeping with cow on a regular basis to the cow shelters having cows greater than 200 in number. This is the primary time shelters having cows as much as 100 to 200 gets the ease as it's financially tough to run the cow shelter for them as smartly,” said Vishram Meena, director, cow welfare division, Rajasthan.


The scheme was once proposed in September, 2018 but because of some technicalities, it was once pending and the topic ultimately went to the election commission after the implementation of the fashion code of behavior in the state. The orders clearing the grant were issued on Thursday.


There are about 1,745 cow shelters in the state, out of which 322 cow shelters have cows within 100-200 in number. The decision taken will value around Rs 3 crore, 22 lakh to the government.


Along with this, election commission allowed two appointments in power division and appointment of LDC of 2013 selected batch.
