Exp train passengers put brakes on robbing spree

Passengers travelling in an unreserved coach of the Darbhanga-Kurla Pawan Express on Wednesday night time nabbed four knife-wielding men who had been on a robbing spree within the compartment.

Two of their aides, on the other hand, managed to flee. The incident happened when the train was travelling between Jalgaon and Manmad stations.

Gopal Shevre and Akash Shevre, both citizens of Chalisgaon, Ankush Pawar of Bhusawal and Sanjay Borse of Jalgaon were arrested. Their try to get off the train simply before it chugged into Manmad junction was foiled via the passengers, who closed the doors of the coach and held them again.

The gang of six robbed Rs 2,300 from a couple of passengers. When they tried to rob more travellers, all the passengers put up a resistance and caught them. Though two members of the crowd managed to flee amid the commotion, passengers caught hang of the rest four.

The passengers, meanwhile, dialled 182 for lend a hand. As the train reached Manmad, RPF and Government Railway Police (GRP) staff rushed to the coach and took the four in custody.
