Girl college students in Karnataka to get free education

BENGALURU: The Karnataka govt on Wednesday made up our minds to endure the schooling bills of woman students pursuing pre-university, commencement and post-graduate classes in colleges run through it.

The scheme, authorized through the state cabinet that met right here, would come into impact from this educational yr and the government would endure the college charges of 3.7 lakh ladies, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Krishna Byregowda told reporters right here.

This scheme benefiting 3.7 lakh ladies in the state would price Rs 95 crore to the state exchequer yearly, he said.


The cabinet also gave its consent to a tourism promotion coverage that will encourage movies to be shot in tourist destinations in the state.


The tourism department would pay an honorarium ranging from Rs one crore to Rs 2.five crore relying upon the dimensions of the movie undertaking, he said.


Among others, the cabinet authorized simplifying the process for exchange of land use from agriculture to residential and different functions, revival of ill sugar manufacturing facility in Bidar and modernisation of Ghataprabha Left Bank Canal at an expenditure of Rs 573 crore.


It also authorized and revision of allowances for employees as really useful in the sixth pay commission, which would incur an annual further expenditure of Rs 400 crore.
