Hundreds from North K’taka attend Air Force recruitment rally

Mysuru: The Indian Air Force conducted a recruitment rally for the put up of airmen in Group Y industry at Chamundi Vihar stadium in Mysuru on Wednesday.
Among the 1,443 eligible candidates, 415 controlled to run the mandatory 1.6km in 5.40minutes to qualify for additional bodily fitness check. Among the 357 candidates who were given qualified and seemed for the written check, just 83 of them controlled to clear it.

Speaking to TOI, Junior Warrant Officer J P Mishra stated: “For recruitment of Indian Air Force security, this is for ‘Garud Commandos’, now we have divided the rally into two portions, this is on Wednesday and Friday. On Wednesday, candidates from 9 districts of North Karnataka, together with Dharwad, Belagavi, Bidar and Raichur, took part within the variety trials, while on Friday, candidates from the remaining 20 districts, together with Mysuru, Madikeri, Kolar, Mandya, Mangaluru, Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Tumakuru, Ballari and Udupi, will take part within the variety trials.”

Eligible candidates will have to qualify the mandatory bodily fitness checks, which contains 1.6km run, later they go through three more occasions, 8 pull ups, 20 pushups and 20 situps. Those who clear the bodily fitness check are eligible to write down the written check, he added.

The written check contains of 50 questions, 20 on English and 30 on reasoning and general consciousness, which will have to be answered in 45 minutes. Surprisingly on Wednesday, a number of the 357 aspirants who seemed for the written check, just 83 controlled to clear it. There used to be no restriction on choice of candidates, he stated.

Wg Cdr Mayank Kanungo, Commanding Officer, 7Airmen Selection Centre, Bengaluru, is the incharge of the ongoing recruitment at Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Mysuru.


“Preparation a number of the candidates isn't enough. Those who come from North Karnataka have just right preparation, but it’s not the similar with different districts. Before coming for variety, it is always higher to have right kind apply. People from North Karnataka are more keen compared to South Karnataka,” Mishra stated.


The eligibility for the candidates to participate within the variety used to be II PU with minimum 50% and born between 14 July 1998 and June 26, 2002 with minimum top of 152.5cm.


Meranappa from Savadatti taluk of Belagavi district, who took part within the variety trials, stated: “The variety isn't in any respect easy. One wishes right kind apply, especially for the 1.6km run.”
