MUMBAI: In a large boost to students pursuing sports activities, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided so they can appear for Class X and XII board checks later if global sports activities events clash with the timetable.
Last 12 months, the CBSE, as part of its efforts to promote sports activities, allowed nine Class X and XII students taking part in global competitions to take the checks later. In a round issued to colleges on Wednesday, the board mentioned it had decided make it a coverage.
“It has been decided to… lengthen such facilitation hereon to all such students whose CBSE board checks clash with their participation in any global sports activities match this is recognised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the coed participates as a consultant of India. For such students, their examination might be carried out at a later level, at a date mutually convenient to the coed and the board, prior to declaration of board effects,” mentioned the round.
For the impending board exam, students will have until January 31to inform the board’s regional offices about their participation. “Students may make a request in writing to the CBSE thru their schools in conjunction with suggestions from SAI,” mentioned the round. A layout of the SAI recommendation is to be had at the board’s website.
Principals within the city welcomed the move. “It is a good initiative. Many students who wish to absorb sports activities as their profession will benefit.
