MUMBAI: Maharashtra atmosphere minister Ramdas Kadam has alleged that builders and land mafias are at the back of the fire that broke out on a personal plot adjoining to Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) and Aarey Colony close to Dindoshi in Goregaon (East).
Kadam, who has already demanded that an inquiry be performed within the fire incident, visited the website online on Thursday.
Kadam stated that he has been instructed by means of the locals that trees that have been on that plot have been chopped just ahead of the fire incident.
"Why did they chop the trees. It looks that some interested party was trying to clear up the land by making it look like a fire incident," stated Kadam.
He stated that according to the details he has there are problems with the land information of the stated land and the measurement of the land too hasn't been completed by means of the income officials.
Kadam has also steered the police, the BMC and the air pollution regulate board to investigate the incident and take motion if violations are found.
"Almost 150 acres of area has been affected by the incident. I will ensure that action is initiated against those found to be guilty," stated Kadam.
