Rajkot: Antiques stolen from Navlakha Palace

RAJKOT: Two masked males broke into the Navlakha Palace in Gondal’s Moti Bazar and stole valuables value over Rs 10 lakh on December 9. However, because the members of the royal family are based in Mumbai, the complaint with regard to the theft was once lodged with the Gondal town police station most effective on Tuesday.

The 18th century palace has been converted into a museum by the royal family and is controlled by them. The manager of the museum Darshan Pithwa, in his police complaint, mentioned that two masked males had entered the palace all over the wee hours of December 9.

Pithwa added that the burglars broke into the Silver Room and Bhagwatisinhji Statue Room and stole valuables. These come with 39kg silver adorns and utensils from the Silver Room. They also picked up items, gained by Bhagwatisinhji, that have been placed as reveals from the Statue room.

Though Pithwa mentioned the value of the stolen goods at Rs 10.16 lakh, sources said that because the pieces stolen were antiques, their worth could be a lot more than what he has mentioned.

Gondal town police inspector Okay N Ramanuj said that because the royal members of the family came from Mumbai on Monday, the complaint was once filed on Tuesday. He added that the masked males had been captured within the CCTV footage of the palace and the FIR was once lodged based it.
