Coimbatore: Despite mounting force from farmers who has been seeking respite from two rogue elephants in Thadagam valley, the wooded area division is in no hurry to seize the elephants as it had a sour revel in prior to now.
The division is to seek opinion from farmers, natural world activists and experts on the factor prior to taking a final name.
During a criticism assembly within the city on Friday, a group of farmers raised their demand of translocating the elephants – Chinna Thambi and Vinayaka – as the wear and tear led to via them proceed despite deploying 4 kumkis to power them deep into the forests.
The farmers demanded a solution each from district collector TN Hariharan and district wooded area officer (DFO) D Venkatesh.
After consulting with his superiors, the DFO asked the farmers to take part in a gathering at his place of job on Sunday to share their evaluations on this factor with officials from the wooded area division and veterinary medical doctors.
The wooded area division has confident to take a final name inside every week after the assembly, introduced the district collector which made the farmers to disperse with hope.
“The district collector had written to chief natural world warden TP Ragunath soliciting for him to grant permission to translocate the elephants. In the primary week of December, an elephant expert would land in Coimbatore to review the habits of the wild elephants and recommend a suitable solution, he added.
