Secularism safe in India, aberrations should be condemned: Venkaiah

AHMEDABAD: Secularism is safe in India as it's in our DNA, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu stated Saturday, however adding that aberrations should be condemned. Speaking on the 64th national convention of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad here, he stated, "Some other folks whinge about secularism being in danger.

Secularism is safe in India, no longer as a result of politicians, no longer as a result of the federal government, (but because) it is a part of the DNA of all Indians.

"There will be certain aberrations here and there, certain cases may occur. Those cases will have to be condemned."

He added other folks living in India without reference to caste, intercourse, faith, and region "are one -- one nation, one other folks, one country".

"So we should deal with our fellow citizen, we will have to no longer discriminate towards him," he stated.

The vp stated different nations are looking at India as it's on the growth path.

"Discuss, debate, make a decision, do not disrupt. That will have to be our thought procedure. We should increase a positive attitude" he added.

He asked ABVP contributors to unfold the message of "nation first" and asked people to be willing to "alternate in step with climates" and "maintain, propagate and protect" Indian tradition.

"We will have to be pleased with being Indian. A country which forgets its tradition and history cannot development," he stated.


The vp asked the youth to promote their mom tongue, but no longer at the price of engaging in linguistic tussles.


"Promote your mom tongue. We should protect Indian languages. We will have to no longer permit any combat between Bengali, non-Bengali, Telugu, non-Telugu, Tamil, non-Tamil, Hindi, non-Hindi. We will have to by no means ever permit such issues to occur," he stated.


Naidu was the manager guest on the ABVP's Yashwant Rao Kelkar Youth Award function, which was part of the student organisation's national convention being held here.


A trainer from Rajasthan, Sandeep Joshi, was selected for this 12 months's award.
