BENGALURU: A 23-year-old formative years has been arrested from Ballari for allegedly raping a minor woman who he had befriended on a social media platform two months in the past.
Shivakumar Naik, a technician at a personal corporate in Ballari, got aware of the 15-year-old woman from Sriramapura within the town through ShareChat app and they started communicating on a regular basis. Naik conspired to sexually exploit the lady and he arrived in Bengaluru by educate on December 23. He informed the lady over chat that he had landed within the town to catch up with his buddy and expressed his want to satisfy her too.
Without suspecting any foul play, the lady came to Majestic after her faculty hours. Naik convinced her to accompany him to his buddy’s place of dwelling in Doddaballapura and promised to drop her house the same night time. He raped her several instances within the night time and dropped her in Majestic day after today.
The woman returned house and narrated the ordeal to her folks who lodged a criticism with Sriramapura police.
“We’ve registered a case of kidnap and rape below the availability of IPC sections and Pocso Act towards Naik. We’ve produced him earlier than the court docket on Saturday and he's in our custody for further probe,” a police officer stated.
Cops are also wondering Naik’s buddy to understand his involvement within the crime.
