MANGALURU: Devotees of Bacchus in Namma Kudla guzzled down round 50,000 litres of hard liquor and about one lakh litre of beer within the run as much as New Year celebrations. The liquor gross sales skyrocketed on the remaining three day leading to New Year celebrations, in line with division of excise.
Shailaja Kote, deputy commissioner, excise, Dakshina Kannada, said on December 31, about 11,301 boxes of beer and about 25,704 boxes of Indian Made/Foreign Liquor used to be lifted from the Karnataka State Beverages Corporation Ltd depot. Each box of beer incorporates about 7.8 to nine litres of beer whilst each liquor box incorporates 8.64 litre of liquor either IML or IMFL. “We expect that half of the lifted booze (beer and liquor) used to be offered off by finish of the day,” in line with Kote.
December alone witnessed leap in liquor sale when compared all different months within the year. Shailaja said between April to August, 2018, the division (contains 5 district) had a goal of 34.84 lakh cases of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) but they might simplest promote 31.12 lakh cases. “In Dakshina Kannada alone, it used to be wanting 1.10 lakh cases of IMFL. The gross sales picked simplest after October,” she added.
