THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 620-km Women's Wall used to be formed alongside the western facet of Kerala's nationwide highways connecting Kasaragod and Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, elevating slogans for gender equality throughout spheres and to resist communal forces out to make Kerala a "mental asylum".

According to police intelligence, round 20 lakh women have been a part of the marketing campaign. The members concluded the 15-minute formation of the wall from 4pm to 4.15pm with a slogan that reiterated their commitment to renaissance values. But the pledge used to be silent on wom-en's access to Sabarimala, the flashpoint that impressed the marketing campaign in the first position.


The Women's Wall, an concept mooted by way of Kerala Pulayar Maha Sabha (KPMS) at a gathering of renaissance organisations convened by way of CM Pinarayi Vijayan remaining month and brought over by way of the state with the help of over 170 organisations, scripted history in its organisation. Despite sturdy resistance from Congress-led UDF and BJP, the ruling LDF made the marketing campaign a success with porous parts at the wall reported from a handful of areas.


In Kasaragod, the wall couldn't be formed in a 700m stretch as BJP staff avoided women from achieving the assigned spots.


The wall covered 11 distri-cts (excluding Wayanad, Idukki and Pathanamthitta) and had women from all walks of life participating - tots, nonagenarians, day-to-day wagers, women in burqas and nuns.
