250 wardens to be deployed to manage traffic between Teen Hath Naka and Kasarvadawli

THANE: The ongoing metro work on Ghodbunder Road has lately began inflicting immense traffic jam. To set up the traffic within the space, the traffic police department has sought a staff of 50 skilled traffic wardens from Reliance Infrastructure, which is tasked with the development of the Metro 4 from Teen Haath Naka to Kasarvadavli.

Claiming that the 6-km-long stretch from Majiwada to Kasarvadavli often has a tendency to jam up because of deficient presence of traffic police and the wardens, DCP (traffic) Amit Kale said he has requisitioned 50 wardens from Reliance Infrastructure to control the traffic in a gathering held on Thursday. The construction work has blocked nearly two lanes on the busy highway resulting in vehicular bottlenecks with motorists often looking ahead to hours to move on. “The work on Metro 4 is being carried out by means of two contractors — Tata Project Ltd and Reliance Infrastructure. While the former has already given us 30 wardens who lend a hand our staff to control the traffic situation, Reliance Infrastructure is but to commission the 30 wardens into action. We are already short-staffed and the development work on Ghodbunder street has added to the motorists woes. We have requested them to provide 20 wardens and 20 water barricades (the pink and yellow barricades used to dam roads),” said DCP Kale.

Officials of the traffic department held dialogue with MMRDA, TMC and each the private construction corporations on Thursday to talk about ways to keep an eye on traffic situation within the city and reduce the congestion on roads.

“TMC has confident us that they're going to be giving us around 150 wardens. Even Tata and Reliance has confident us that within every week’s time that they're going to be providing us with no less than 50 wardens. This will assist us to control the congestion as we will be able to deploy no less than one constable and 3 wardens at each junction,” added Kale. The traffic government mentioned that they're going to be taking strict action against cars parked on the provider street. Even the garages in this direction might be relocated with the help of the municipal company. Any deserted automotive might be moved to a vacant TMC land in Boriwada village.
