7 crushed to death by truck of cattle smugglers

VARANASI: At least seven persons, including two ladies and three kids, were killed when a truck of alleged cattle smugglers ran over them after destructive their hut in Muldah village under Ilia police station near Bihar border in UP's Chandauli district on Tuesday morning.
Angered over their killing, villagers went on a rampage and staged huge demonstration by way of blocking the street. They held police accountable for the incident. Later, district Justice of the Peace NS Chahal and SP Santos Kumar Singh reached there.

SP Chandauli suspended SO Ilia and transferred inspector Chakia apart from recommending action in opposition to CO Chakia. The DM introduced rapid financial help of Rs five lakh for every killed person. Following it the villagers agreed to call off their stir and allowed the police to ship the bodies for autopsy.




According to villagers, some policemen were chasing a cattle-laden truck which was once heading to Bihar border. In the bid to escape, the truck driving force demolished a hut in which Ramkishun and his family members were slumbering. Seven of them got here under the wheels of truck and died at the spot.




Later, the truck dived right into a box. On failing to taking the truck onto the street, smugglers fled the scene leaving the car deserted.
