Announce package for Punjab: Sunil Jakhar to PM

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar on Tuesday requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce a special bundle for the border state all through his rally in Gurdaspur on January 3.

Jakhar also requested the PM to announce a major industrial challenge for the state. Jakhar stated the state had over 1,000 acres to spare at Kalanaur in Gurdaspur and an industrial challenge there would generate employment for youth of the border district.

He stated PM Modi should also consider pronouncing industrial concessions for border districts in the state, at the strains of freight-equalisation coverage. The Gurdaspur MP also requested Modi should to announce some more or less agreement for the Rs 31,000 crore spent on procurement of wheat and paddy, which the previous SAD-BJP state govt had wrongly taken over instead of changing the volume between the state and central govt.

“Despite his deficient track record in maintaining promises, we predict Modi to announce one thing really extensive for the state,” stated Jakhar. “People are nonetheless looking ahead to ‘acche din’, go back of black cash, and Rs 15 lakh of their banks accounts.”

Jakhar stated despite the fact that he didn't have any hopes from the PM, he made the calls for as a result of he felt that “electoral compulsions and the urge to come back to power might power Modi to do one thing for Punjab and its people at this juncture”. He also hoped that the central govt would have all necessary infrastructure in place for the hole of the Kartarpur Sahib corridor before the celebrations of the 550th beginning anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev in November this yr.
