Autorickshaws in city will run as per fare meter

DHARWAD: The autorickshaw drivers who had been reluctant to rate fare in line with the meter in Dharwad, have finally fallen in line and feature approved the revised fare chart of the RTO and the district administration.
On Wednesday, deputy commissioner Deepa Cholan and police commissioner M N Nagaraj formally launched the plying of autorickshaws fitted with fare meters.

Speaking on the instance, Deepa said the administration is able for talks with the automobile operators if they face any downside. Some of the perennial issues faced by them would be solved in a phased approach, she added.

The revised fare is as follows: Minimum fare for the primary 1.6km has been enhanced from Rs 23 to 28. For each further km, the fare is revised from Rs 13 to Rs 15. There has been no trade within the ready duration which used to be nil for the primary 15 mins and Rs 5 for the following 15 mins or section thereof. Similarly, there was no trade in personal luggage rate which used to be nil for the primary 20kg and Rs 20 for the following 20kg or section thereof.


The DC mentioned that the autorickshaw operators will have to settle for the fare in line with revised charges and any violation and extra charging will be handled critically.


Nagaraj said that the revised fare chart has been ready after taking both auto drivers and passengers into self belief. Hence, the automobile drivers must now not harass normal public and proceed providing better service to the folk. DCP (Traffic and Crime) B S Nemagouda, ACP Manjunath Naganur and inspector Murugesh Channannavar had been present.


It is to be noticed whether or not the RTO and police will make certain continuation of the new machine for lengthy.
