Conmen dupe two elderly men of gold ornaments

PUNE: Two elderly males, in separate incidents, had been duped of gold adorns value Rs1.15 lakh through conmen.

Once case happened in Hadapsar, while the opposite incident came about in Sahakarnagar.

The police have launched an investigation into both cases in an instant, because the victims in both instances had been elderly males.

The police have an outline of the suspect concerned within the Hadapsar case, while blurred CCTV photos is the one thing they have to head on within the Sahakarnagar incident.

The police are combing in the course of the photos to establish the tricksters’ id or confirm their automobile’s registration number. They also are conducting technical investigations, running on certain clues and looking into criminals on their data.

On Saturday night in Hadapsar, a conman visited the home of 84-year-old Vishnu Laxman Shivarkar, after befriending him two days previous.

Shivarkar lives on my own — his wife is not more, while his son lives in Mumbai.

The suspect informed Shivarkar that he wanted to photograph the latter’s gold chain, as he wanted to get a similar one made for his sister’s wedding.

“Shivarkar removed the chain and handed it over to the suspect, who placed it on a desk to take images. The conman then diverted Shivarkar’s attention, pocketed the decoration and rushed out of his house. The elderly man may just neither chase the person, nor elevate an alarm because of his advanced age,” sub-inspector Manik Dokhe said.

Shivarkar registered an FIR on Sunday night.

In Sahakarnagar, two conmen stole a gold ring value Rs25,000 from 90-year-old Laxman Tambolkar round 8.45pm on Saturday at Maheshwari society. The duo posed because the sons of Tambolkar’s close good friend.

“The tricksters struck up a conversation with Tambolkar. They informed him they had been wearing a box filled with ghee, and stopped to take a look at his gold ring, which they claimed used to be similar to a hoop their ‘father’ wore,” senior inspector Devidas Gheware, the in-charge of Dattawadi police station, said.

“The duo requested Tambolkar to take away the ring so they could have a greater glance. He did not suspect them and handed over the ring. They diverted his attention and sped away with the chain. Tambolkar registered an FIR, but he may just not provide their details, like names or automobile registration number,” Gheware added.
