Delhi: Over 27k children went missing in 3 years

NEW DELHI: Over 27,000 kids in the national capital had gone missing between 2015 and 2018 November-end, of whom just about 70 in step with cent had been traced through the Delhi Police, the Rajya Sabha was once informed on Wednesday. Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, in a written answer, said out of the 27,356 missing kids right through that period, 19,596 had been traced through the Delhi Police.


"Delhi Police has reported that on the directions of Hon'ble High Court of Delhi, Anti-Human Trafficking Units have been created in all the districts and the Crime Branch of Delhi Police for investigation of missing/untraced children up to the age of 3-8 years and identifying organised gangs involved in kidnapping of children," he said in keeping with a query.


According to Delhi Police records shared through him, the choice of missing kids in the city right through 2018, until November 30, stood at 6,053.


The choice of missing kids in the city right through the former 3 years had been -- 7,928 (in 2015); 6,921 (in 2016); and six,454 (in 2017), he said in the written answer.


In 2018, as much as November end, five,520 cases had been registered, 532 had been labored out and 588 people had been arrested, consistent with the information, which also mentioned that during 2015, as many as 7126 cases had been registered, 749 had been labored out and 1,215 people had been arrested.
