Doctor saves flyer who had heart attack mid-air

MANGALURU: A normal doctor from the coast saved the lifetime of a 55-year-old girl who suffered a center assault mid-air on a Jeddah-Mumbai flight. Dr AK Kasim now not only resuscitated the passenger, he made sure the flight didn’t have to go back to Jeddah.

Kasim, from Uppala in Kasaragod, heads the medical health insurance division of Asian Polyclinic in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. He was once flying again home for a vacation. He booked a Jet Airways flight from Jeddah to Mumbai a couple of days in the past. The flight took off from Jeddah round 1am and shortly after, the passengers fell asleep. A couple of hours later, the shrieks of a girl woke them up. A 55-year-old feminine passenger gave the impression to be having a center assault.


The flight attendants instantly made an announcement asking if there were doctors on board. Kasim swung into action and presented to treat the girl after showing his identification card. The staff made all preparations: the girl was once made to lie at the aisle and a first-aid equipment was once brought.


Kasim found the passenger was once breathless. Immediately, he started chest compressions and after a couple of mins, the girl started responding and her pulse returned. “It was once a proud moment for me to be on this occupation,” Kasim wrote on Facebook. He is a member of the Mangaluru based totally M-Friends social team as well. “She (the patient) was once unconscious, without pulse and was once now not respiring. I revived the patient, injected IV fluids, atropine, adrenaline and managed her for 2 hours in a conscious state and handed her over to the emergency doctor on the airport. I’m glad to mention the patient was once shifted to health facility via ambulance in a conscious state.”
