SURAT: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will introduce 15 e-rickshaws below a pilot challenge through April at railway station, New Civil Hospital and SMIMER sanatorium to supply last-mile connectivity to other people. The number of e-rickshaws will probably be regularly larger once right kind recharge facility for electrical batteries comes up within the town.
The challenge has been sanctioned through Gujarat Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Authority. “The challenge will assist reduce pollution and supply incomes opportunities to needy,” stated Gayatri Jariwala, assistant commissioner, SMC. The civic body will assist beneficiaries to acquire loans to buy e-rickshaws below other govt schemes.
“These e-rickshaws will ferry other people to a distance of 2km at nominal rates. It will serve their want for last-mile connectivity. We have more than 100 beneficiaries who are prepared to be related to the challenge. This will probably be a great vehicle on many feeder routes and the place the streets are slim,” a civic officer stated.
