DHARWAD: The persistence of people who had amassed at the U.S.premises for the inaugural consultation of the Sammelana was tested as there was an inordinate delay in the graduation of the programme, due to chief minister H D Kumaraswamy who arrived 3 hours late.
The programme was to start out at 11am . Initially it was not on time as sammelana president Chandrashekhar Kambar reached late to the venue, being brought in a grand procession overlaying Five-kms distance. Even after the procession reached the U.S.campus, there was no sign of CM Kumaraswamy. He reached the venue at 2.30pm and the programme began at 2.40pm after the lunch consultation.
This is for the first time that the Sahitya Sammelana was inaugurated in the post-lunch consultation.
Books released
As quickly as the programme began, the chief minister released as many as 20 books brought out via the KSP. This apart, MLC Basavaraj Horatti and former chief minister Jagadish Shettar too released rankings of books brought out via leading publishers. The artwork works ready right through the artwork camp held as part of the sammelana were released via MP Prahlad Joshi.
The chief minister left quickly after he finished his speech with out even looking ahead to the organizers to give vote of thank you.
Shortage of meals
Visitors at the sammelana including the registered participants exchanged heated phrases following shortage of meals. On the first day, chapati, roti, brinjal bhaji, greengram bhaji, rice, rasam and huggi were ready but many complained that they didn't get chapati and roti.
The delegates expressed their anguish and began shouting towards the organisers. They demanded that the organisers will have to talk over with the spot and clear up the issue.
Some participants alleged that there was enough stock of sweet dishes, roti, chapati and different pieces but the volunteers didn't serve the meals correctly.
Later, many people were served simplest rice and rasam.
Transport woes
It was a herculean job for enthusiasts to reach the sammela na premises at the University of Agricultural Sciences. Buses deployed to ferry guests to the venue were packed to the brim at the town bus stand itself. So, other folks status at the Jubilee Circle, KC Park, SP place of job and different stops had to stay up for hours to get into a bus. Even buses arriving from Srinagar, Kalyana Nagar and different areas of Dharwad were overcrowded and other folks were seen placing at the doors.
“The management has utterly failed to verify ok delivery,” stated Anil Kumar, K, a retired financial institution reliable from Mangaluru.
