Nine Punjab cops honoured with Punjab CM Amarinder Singh's Police Medals on Republic Day

PATIALA: Nine state police officers were honoured with the Chief Minister's Police Medals in popularity in their exceptional performance and discharge of accountability with utmost sincerity, dedication and commitment by way of Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh on Saturday to mark the 70th Republic Day here.

The CM introduced police medals to SSP Faridkot Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu, DSP investigation, Rupnagar, Varinderjit Singh, inspector, Mohali, Tarlochan Singh, inspector (PRTC) Jahan Khelan, Hoshiarpur, Darshan Singh, SI Nitin Narula, Fatehgarh Sahib SI Sarbjit Singh, 5 Commando Battalion, Bathinda, SI Naresh Kumar, 2 Commando, Bahadurgarh, Jaspal Singh, ASI (CR) 5 Commando Battalion, Bathinda, Anil Kumar.


A total of 21 freedom combatants and 7 next of family members of these freedom combatants were also honoured by way of the manager minister for contributing to the national freedom battle. Besides, more than 100 eminent personalities from other walks of lifestyles were also honoured with a souvenir and a certificate every for exceptional contribution of their respective fields. Twenty two govt schoolteachers from all districts were also honoured for his or her immense contribution in imparting high quality training to the students. The CM also honoured 25 eminent sportspersons for bringing laurels to the state.


Amarinder dispensed 51 cycles amongst lady scholars of Classes XI and XII of government schools, besides freely giving 19 tricycles and wheelchairs to the physically challenged and 24 sewing machines to the needy and destitute girls. He also announced a holiday on January 28 in those schools and faculties which participated in the Republic Day functions arranged by way of the district administrations around the state.


Later, he interacted with drug abuse prevention officials, pal volunteers and beneficiaries of Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojana to elicit their views regarding the implementation of these programmes.


After unfurling the Nationl Flag, the CM took salute all the way through an outstanding march past by way of the contingents of PRTC, Jahan Khelan, Patiala Police, Punjab Homeguard, NCC air wing, ladies battalion and Army wing, St. John Ambulance Red Cross, Girl Guides and Scouts, Patiala School of Blind, Saifdipur, brass band of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur, and pipe band of Punjab Armed Police, Jalandhar.
