Surat: A portion of the 30-foot-long and 10-foot-high outer boundary wall of the pumping station of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) caved in at Kadarsah ni Naal in Nanpura area of the town in the wee hours of Sunday. There had been no casualties, but four autorickshaws and two personal tempos parked near the wall were given broken when the wall fell on them.
Jagdish Patel, fire officer, Navsari Bazaar fire station, mentioned, “Water seepage under the wall in the past few months had made it vulnerable. A tree in the pumping station compound has also were given tilted. SMC staffers have performed a structural survey and important action will likely be taken soon. Work is on to clean up the particles.”
