RANCHI: Around one lakh other folks belonging to the Kurmi neighborhood beneath the banner of Kurmi Vikas Morcha assembled at Morhabadi on Sunday to participate within the call for for inclusion of their neighborhood within the Scheduled Tribe list of the state.
Interestingly, cupboard minister Chandra Prakash Chaudhary was present at the 'Kurmi Aakrosh Maharally' which vowed to vote in opposition to the BJP at the coming Lok Sabha election within the state.
Chaudhary mentioned he attended the serve as to show harmony with the neighborhood. "I will be writing letters to the chief minister and the Prime Pinister today itself so that the demand can be fulfilled at the earliest."
During the rally, Kurmi Vikas Morcha central president Sheetal Ohdar mentioned: "If the state government does not ratify our demand before the Lok Sabha election, we will make sure that BJP loses five parliamentary seats in state from Ranchi, Jamsedhpur, Hazaribagh, Giridih and Dhanbad."
JMM MLA from Dumri, Jaggarnath Mahto was additionally present at the event. He mentioned, "Being a Kurmi myself, the fight for ST status is rightly mine. It is the right of my Kurmi brothers to get back the status. We were debarred from the status in the late 50s. For the 2019 elections, fighting for the rights of the Kurmis will be one of the election issues of the JMM."
However, several participants of Kurmi Vikash Morcha doubted the intentions of politicians and mentioned the inclusion of Kurmis in ST list can have been achieved by means of now as 40 MLAs and two MPs have already given their consent in writing to their motive.
Kurmi Sangharsh Morcha spokesperson Rajaram Mahto mentioned, "Kurmis are simple and humble people. Many have fears thinking that we want to intrude into someone else's right, but that is not the case. We just want what is ours. Our only demand is inclusion of the Kurmis in the list of STs."
