PU convocation: 1,500 scholars to get degrees

PATNA: Around 1,500 students who've handed the postgraduation (PG) examinations, including PhD, in different disciplines in 2015-17 session will likely be awarded levels at the convocation ceremony of Patna University (PU) to be held at S K Memorial Hall on January 20. As many as 38 students who've crowned the examinations of different classes will likely be awarded gold medals. Former President Pranab Mukherjee will be the leader visitor.


This is the second one time when Pranab Mukherjee will likely be delivering the convocation cope with at PU. Earlier, he had attended the convocation when he was once the Union finance minister in 1984. G P Sinha was once the vice-chancellor (VC) of PU and the function was once held at Patna Science College.


Governor-cum-chancellor Lalji Tandon will preside the ceremony and PU VC Rash Bihari Prasad Singh will give away the degrees to the scholars. The stage recipients of all of the universities will wear robes as prescribed via the chancellor.


PU examination controller R K Mandal said greater than 100 students will likely be awarded PhD levels. The university will not confer DLitt or DSc stage to the scholars this 12 months.
