Sensex crashes 378 points to finish at 35,513; Nifty below 10,700

NEW DELHI: Equity indices persisted to fall for the second one consecutive session on Thursday as traders remained wary ahead of the start of corporate earnings season subsequent week and global cues. The benchmark BSE Sensex tanked 378 points or 1.05 in keeping with cent to complete at 35,513 and the broader NSE Nifty closed 120 points or 1.11 in keeping with cent lower to settle at 10,672.

The BSE barometer has misplaced 741 points and Nifty has shed 238 points in simply two days of buying and selling (January 2 and three).

On the BSE index, ONGC, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel, Vedanta, HDFC and Larsen & Toubro were the worst performers with their shares sliding as much as three.59 in keeping with cent. On NSE, all sub-indices completed in red with Nifty Metal and Media tracking primary losses, down as much as 2.25 in keeping with cent.


“People are waiting for triggers,” mentioned Jayant Manglik, president of retail distribution at Religare Broking in New Delhi. “Issues on the global front for the next few weeks should be watched,” he added, whilst expressing optimism about corporate earnings.


Top device services and products exporters Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys are set to report effects for the December-quarter earnings subsequent week.


US stock futures fell and Asian shares wobbled after a rare revenue caution from Apple Inc added to worries about slowing global growth and weaker earnings.
