SURAT: After cleaning the city roads manually for over 25 years during evening hours, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has now determined to deploy machines for the purpose. The civic frame claimed that this would cut back price and provides better effects.
SMC is adopting the method which has been effectively carried out through Indore town administration in Madhya Pradesh. Indore was top ranked town during Swacchata Sarveskshan 2018.
The Surat civic frame lately employs 2,190 employees for cleaning town roads during the evening time at price of Rs 4.25 lakh consistent with day. But despite this, dust accumulates on the roads.
So after after looking at the evening cleaning of roads in Indore used machines, SMC took determination to rent a contractor who will clean the roads the usage of road sweeping machines. “Once the standing committee passes the proposal, the contractor can be pressed into service. He can be plaid Rs 8.5 lakh per 30 days for a device and his activity can be to scrub, collecting dust and taking out it permanently from the street,” stated Uday Naik, in-charge govt engineer SMC who is also in-charge of solid waste control.
“The price of manual cleaning comes with reference to Re 1 consistent with squarem. However, with the machines the cost will come all the way down to 60-70 pe consistent with squaremetre.,” he added.
